Everything you need to get started with both SpeakFlow apps.

🍎 SpeakFlow Live (Mac)🌐 SpeakFlow Translate (Chrome)

🍎 SpeakFlow Live β€” Mac app

Real-time conversation translation. You provide a free Google API key; activation unlocks the app.

Part A Β· Get your Google AI Studio API key

1

Open Google AI Studio

Go to aistudio.google.com/app/apikey and sign in with your Google account.

2

Create an API key

Click "Create API key" β†’ choose a project (or let Google create one). A key appears, starting with AIza…

3

Copy the key

Click the copy icon. Keep it private β€” it's like a password. (Free tier needs no card; paid tier = higher limits, billed by Google.)

Part B Β· Install, activate & use

4

Download & install the app

Download the .dmg, open it, and drag SpeakFlow Live to Applications.

5

Activate your license

Open the app β†’ it asks for your license key (from your purchase) β†’ paste SFL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX β†’ Activate. Works on up to 2 Macs.

6

Add your API key & start

Menu β†’ Set API key β†’ paste your AIza… key. Pick your languages, choose a mode (Listen / Speak / Both), press Start β€” and talk!

Part C Β· Using the features

🎚️

Choose a mode

From the menu-bar icon pick Listen (hear others in your language), Speak (they hear you in theirs), or Both (full two-way conversation). Set My language and Their language in the menu.

🎧

Listen β€” understand any audio

Set the mode to Listen and press Start. SpeakFlow captures your Mac's audio (a call, video, meeting) and reads it aloud in your language, with on-screen captions. Tip: use the Mute original option so you only hear the translation.

🎀

Speak β€” they hear you translated

Set mode to Speak, then in your call app (Zoom, Google Meet, Zalo, Teams…) open audio settings and choose "SpeakFlow" as the microphone. Now when you talk, the other side hears your translated voice. Pick your real mic under Mic in the SpeakFlow menu.

⌨️

Select-to-translate (anywhere)

Highlight any text in any app and press βŒ˜β‡§D β€” SpeakFlow instantly shows the translation and reads it aloud. Works without starting a session.

πŸ—’οΈ

Captions, dictation & summary

Captions appear on screen as people speak. Turn on Save session to record the transcript and get an AI summary when you stop. Dictate mode types what you say (in your language) into the focused field β€” handy for chat.

πŸ”Š

Pick your devices & language

In the menu, choose your speaker (Output), microphone (Mic) and the SpeakFlow virtual mic (Virtual). You can also switch the app's interface language at the bottom of the menu.

Best results: use headphones (so the translated voice doesn't loop back into the mic), and grant Screen Recording + Accessibility permissions when macOS asks (needed to capture audio and read selected text).
